Welcome to St Carthage's Primary School

St Carthage’s Parish School, a Catholic systemic school of the Lismore Diocese, was established in 1886 by the Presentation Sisters (from Ireland) to cater for the needs of the Catholic children of Lismore. The Marist Brothers have been involved from 1911 – 1996. The school was originally built on the flood plains but in 1954 was moved to higher ground, the current school site.
The school is part of the St Carthage’s Cathedral Parish, Father Jim Griffin is Parish Administrator and also School Chaplain, .
With an enrolment of 600, St Carthage’s School is one of the largest Primary Schools in the Lismore Diocese. The Principal is Mrs Janelle Heffernan.

Our thoughts and prayers are with those who have been affected by recent flood events.

As a response to this devastation our St Carthage’s school community wish to offer practical support to our families whose homes and businesses have been affected.

We invite families to purchase a Gift Card (eg Woolworths Wish Cards and Coles Gift Cards) from a local business for essential items and either post or drop them in to the school to be distributed after the school holidays. To assist in knowing who requires support, please let us know of anyone you are aware of who has suffered loss in the floods.

We pray everyone in our community, especially those families most affected by the recent flooding, are given strength by the example of Jesus who brings the promise of New Life to a time of despair.
